Baby Dogue

Gary and I stopped into the vet to hop on the scales.... and low and behold they told us this little guy was coming in in 15 minutes, so of course we had to see him. Luckily Suzanne was with us and had her camera! His name is Hugo and his puppy fur was like silk. What a squeezable sweetie. I hope we get to see him around Halifax to watch him grow and to monitor his jowl development!

Mastiff Heaven

This weekend was special as we got to visit with our mastiff friends, Striker (French) and Teya (Italian). Never have I been in such Bordeaux bliss! Striker's mom said he didn't get his giant head until he was 2, so here's hoping Gary's will expand. And to those who claim that two male Bordeauxs will not tolerate each other, eat your heart out:

Tubby Time

On those hot days my boy needs to cool down. When he is too hot he lets me know by getting into the tub and waiting for me to run him a cold bath. He loves to lounge in the cold water while mommy splashes it up over him to cool all his parts.

Education Is Important

Every once in a while here at FtLotJ I like to give back and provide my fans with some valuable knowledge to expand their jowl loving horizons. This is one of those special occasions, so get your pencils ready, you might want to take notes!

Sometimes flexibility is necessary to get into those tight corners to conform to the correct angle for maximum jowl appreciation. Take up Yoga if you have to!

Lying on the floor I was able to take this shot, and therefore provide you with the valuable information below whereby I point out especially wondrous areas of Gary's jowls that might have been missed from a more vertical stand point.

The angle is everything! Look what an overhead view is missing!

It is just good practice to end any Jowl Loving Session with a good plant to the lippies.

A Study of the Lippies

It is no secret that Gary has amazing lips. Truely breathtaking. Several times a day my lips meet his and I experience moments of pure joy and childlike enthusiasm. Sometimes, his lippies get stuck out and pucker such as in the photo below. I take advantage of these swell opportunites the way any true jowl enthusiast would: I kiss those lippies! I usually accompany the kiss with a jowl squeeze as well, making for a sensually delightful combination. I recommend trying this proven combo on your nearest set of jowls at the next opportunity!

Fetch?

This is Gary at Parlee Beach, where we will be going this weekend. He isn't much of a retriever and only brings back sticks when he feels like it, but he seems to be enjoying the activity in this photo. I particularly enjoy the one ear salute.

Bordeaux Printmaking

This is a dry point etching of a Dogue de Bordeaux that I did today in class. It is etched onto plexi glass, inked with oil based ink, and then run through a press onto moistened paper. Do you think I did the jowls justice?

Canada Day Goes to the Dogs

Canada Day celebrations at the James camp. Total Canine Count was 10 this year, down from last year's 11.

Love that face. Krypto. We wanted to adopt him and rename him Dale. For obvious reasons. He is a little on the plump side. By that I mean he is obese.

Murphy is suspicious of everyone and everything [eyes flashing]. However, that is as far as it goes, as he is quite simple.

Gary and Jack, joined at the hip.

Little Buddy Harris. He make look harmless, but don't try to take his cookie.

Toby chills out.

Gary and his mommy.

The faces. G and Chief.

Dog races!

Howard displeased with life, and generally unamused, after his bath. He feels he should be able to roll in shit and continue on his day without any such interruption. The nerve of some people!

Gary hogging the turtle pool.

Dog Park Fun

The Three Muskateers, Gary, Quincy, and Madison play with a deflated basketball. Good times!

The three share the water bottle.

Refreshed, it is time for some wrestling.

Running!

The dog park is thirsty work. Gary makes sure to keep hydrated at all times.

Gary at Seaside Park

Gary enjoying his absolute favourite past time: lounging in puddles.

Gary running around like a mad dog: the demon within is unleashed!!!

Gary begging for another milkbone. He has many talents, including touching his tongue to his nose on command. What a boy!

It's Been A While...

I have been slacking in my jowl blogging. Sorry, fans. Here is Gary in one of his favourite positions. Kicking out those leggies. Notice the roll of skin smooshed out by the back of his neck.

The More the Merrier

Gary playing with Striker. Just heavenly. Look at the size of Striker's head. What a tank. I hope Gary can match it some day.

A Day In The Life

A typical Saturday for the G-man!

We venture off in the car, and G enjoys a myriad of Halifax stinks from the window.

We arrive at the dog park, and the playing begins!
Good times!
Gary wrestles with his favourite friend, Sampson, the Old English Sheepdog.

At the park he got very muddy so it was time for a bath. He looks pleased.

Looking like the angel he is! This face could end wars.

Back To My Roots

I've decided to get back to the core of what this blog is all about. We can't forget where we came from and what means the most to us!

Celebrating the jowl!

Three cheers for folds!

Not to mention, the nose wrinkle:

Mom With The Boys

The Little Buddy and the G-man. Howard is clearly jealous of Gary attempting to encroach on his claimed lap in the Land of Snuggles. Gary is oblivious to Howard's anxieties as he soaks up the love. Good times.

Snow!

Gary loves the snow! It gets him frisky. This shot shows how his jowls are maturing and really coming into thier own. His jowls have a solid, comforting weight to them. My boy is so handsome!
